Fall is a really fun season in Hershey. It was this time last year when I finally starting feeling more at home here. There are tons of activities to keep us busy, and the fall color is at its peak. Last weekend we went to a pumpkin patch to get Ellie a carving pumpkin and we also picked some more apples. I, like just about everyone, love to bake and eat all things pumpkin and apple this time of the year. We made an enormous batch of applesauce last weekend, and I made pumpkin spice muffins and granola bars for Ellie’s playgroup Halloween party. I still have about a half bushel of apples to use up, so I’d better start researching more recipes.
We love Strite’s Orchard! We will definitely miss coming here next year when we’re back in Michigan.
The scenery is so pretty here.
Ellie loved running around through all of the pumpkins. They had tons of crazy green and bumpy ones that she thought were so funny.
I still keep thinking about how little Ellie was at this time last year. Can you even believe how big she is now?
Sigh. I just want to squeeze her.
We tried out a new to us experience last Sunday. Hersheypark in the dark! Ellie was too little for it last year, and my season pass is still good through the end of December, so we wanted to take advantage of it while we can. Ted got a free ticket from someone at work, so we had fun killing a few hours there. Ellie loved the lights and decorations. Even the carousel played Halloween themed music. Picture the song from Ghostbusters calliope style. Hilarious.
The view from the “kissing tower” was really cool in the dark.
Ellie loved showing all of her favorite rides to Ted, since it was his first time there. She even got to use a park potty for the first time, which in the eyes of a 2 year old is almost as much fun as any ride! I’m hoping to take her to the park again this weekend one last time until we try out the Christmastime stuff next.
