I would say that Claire’s room is one of the most “done” of any in our house. Her room is always full of light and just feels cheerful – perfect for my little sunshine baby.
This room is a mix of old and new and new to us. The crib, lamp, changing pad, and most of the books and toys were all Ellie’s. The dresser is used and was an awesome $30.00 Goodwill score from my cousin. We had it painted white, I bought new pink glass knobs and it’s perfect.
When planning this room, I really wanted to keep it from feeling too babyish, hoping it could grow with Claire and we would easily be able to change the accent colors anytime. Here’s the original mood board I designed before she was born.
We were really lucky that this room had built in shelving already there. I love being able to to easily access everything. So far Claire just loves to pull all the books off the shelves!
One tip I have for inexpensive children’s art is to buy used books and frame illustrations from them. The art on the walls in here is from a little golden book, and I even found another large scale copy at a consignment sale. So $1.50 worth of books, and inexpensive frames from Target and Ikea, and voila!
My goal was to be creative with things we already owned and with minimal expense, which we definitely accomplished. It’ll be fun to watch this room grow with Claire. And just for fun, a pic from our recent family session of Claire in her room.
